Old Fashioned Mustard Sauce For Corned Beef
I cannot imagine corned beef without this sharp, sweet mustard sauce. It was always a real treat when mum made it.
Quantity: 200 ml (3/4 cup)
- 1/4 cup cooking water from corned beef/silverside
- 1/4 cup white vinegar
- 1 tbsp mustard powder
- 1 egg
- 1 tbsp sugar
Mix eggs, mustard and sugar together in a small pan.
Add the vinegar and beef cooking water.
Heat gently without boiling.
- When done the sauce should coat the back of a spoon.
- If it boils, the sauce will curdle.
