Discover how easy it is to make basic farmhouse cheese at home!
In this session you will make your own Queso Blanco (white cheese) to take home to enjoy. Queso Blanco is a simple cheese that doesn’t require rennet or cultures, and is quite versatile in the kitchen. It can be drained for a short time and used as for ricotta, or can be hung to drain for a few hours, salted and used in salads, baked dishes, etc.
Once the cheese is made, you will work together with others who attend on the day, preparing a light meal starring basic farmhouse cheeses, to be shared as we sit, relax and chat at the end of the session.
Cost includes recipes and all ingredients, plus a light lunch on the day.

Memories of Sunday night tea…
My childhood memories of the family meal on Sunday evening are still as clear today, as if it were yesterday. In the warm weather, the meal was typically a cold meal that often included leftover meat from dinner (the midday meal), and mum would always make a salad, often it would be a simple lettuce salad, or her celery, apple and orange salad. Should we have run out of bread, scones were baked, and served warm with butter, alongside the cold meat and salad. And, yes, there was always something sweet to finish the meal.
