A cuisine influenced by history, by occupation, by those who passed through, really it’s a veritable melting pot of cuisines.

Where soup can be sweet or savoury, hot or cold, mains are often hearty dishes of meat or game, and desserts of cakes and pastries often feature nuts and fruit, and to finish a meal, fresh fruit – whatever is in season.  Of course paprika is often a feature in the delicious savoury dishes, and will be in some of those made on the day as we prepare a hearty lunch for all to enjoy as we sit, eat and relax to finish the session.

Cooking, creating and having fun together!

My sisters visited recently.  We had the best few day, we always get to do so much when we’re together, cramming as much as we can into the days, the hours, the minutes.  Traveling from different parts of the state, they arrived on Sunday with greetings from one of the locals!

Our mornings were slow and relaxed – lots of chatting, sharing of stories, reminiscing, flicking through magazines and recipe books, and enjoying  more than one cuppa together!  Our afternoons and evenings were busy! Continue reading
